St George’s launches ambitious expansion plan

By Pamela Parkes  Tuesday Dec 16, 2014

St George’s concert hall has ambition.

No longer content with being know as one of Bristol’s best kept secrets, tucked away down a leafy road just off Park Street, the venue has announced a multi-million pound expansion plan which will take it firmly into the 21st century.

It has launched the ‘Building a sound future’ campaign with a view to building a £5m extension by 2017.

Colston Hall has already announced its own plans for a major renovation and, with the long anticipated Bristol Arena due to open by 2017, St George’s has now unveiled plans for a huge two-story extension which, it promises, will transform the way the venue is used.

In this video the Director of St George’s Suzanne Rolt, accompanied by concert pianist and Bristol University student Alexandra Tchernakova, explains how the expansion plans will put St George’s at the very centre of musical excellence in Bristol.
