By Bristol24/7  Monday Nov 14, 2016

Bristol-based artist Stefan Goodchild completes the bill for the first-ever Submerge Festival, which takes place from November 18-20. The artist will create live analogue visuals and a lighting design for festival club night The Ascent, which also features DJ sets from Rrose and Octo Octa.

Goodchild has toured the world making real-time interactive and reactive video art, primarily for large scale concerts. His impressive client list includes LCD Soundsystem, Peter Gabriel, Glass Animals, Pulp, Pet Shop Boys, Queen and others.

Goodchild was selected to join the festival lineup by a panel of representatives from Simple Things Festival, Mayfest and Theatre Bristol. The artist will make real time audio reactive analog video art for the festival club night, patched and improvised live with modular analogue video and audio equipment.

Speaking about Submerge on a break from working on new tour visuals for The Human League, Goodchild said, “I’m thrilled to be part of such an ambitious new festival, and to have the opportunity to show my work in my home town.”

The Ascent will take place in the Old Coroners Court on Stokes Croft. The event is presented by Bristol’s Horseplay and features sets from USA DJs Octo Octa (a house producer from New York who recently came out as a trans-woman) and Detroit techno heavyweight Rrose (aka Seth Horvitz/Sutekh). The party also features “mischievous live performance” from London’s Steakhouse Live, including a turn from slippery drag queen Oozing Gloop, and the DJs from queer dance party Knickerbocker.
