Talent Workshop to bring Emily Eavis and Huw Stephens to Trinity

By Rhys Buchanan  Tuesday Nov 7, 2017

Glastonbury Festival’s Emily Eavis will be in conversation with BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens at Trinity Centre tonight for a special PRS Foundation talent development workshop. This is a rare opportunity for the aspiring musicians of Bristol to discover more about funding and the industry. There will also be a chance to network with various talent development experts, including journalists, labels and trusts.

A music showcase will follow which includes London-based Ten Fé, a soulful five-piece who have just returned from a rapturous European and US tour. The equally awesome Meadowlark will be bringing their reclined folk to the venue. Lastly 808INK will be performing, an alternative duo consisting of producer 808Charmer and rapper Mumblez Black Ink.

Senior grants and programmes manager for PRS Foundation Joe Frankland has said, “We’ve been rolling out more events across the country like this at PRS foundation. This is something we’ve been discussing with our ambassador Emily Eavis for a while now. We came up with an idea of putting on a showcase of some of our artists as well as panel talks and workshops aimed at emerging artists and songwriters.”

He also told us more about the packed schedule on the night, “We’ve also gathered some artists and managers who have received funding from us to talk about how the two-hundred or so in the room can access funding. We’ve also invited about fifteen different organisations who support emerging talent. So anyone who comes along with that part of the event will be able to network with those. Then basically that networking event turns into a gig where we’ll go upstairs to Fyfe Hall in Trinity Centre for our music momentum showcase.”

Commenting more on having the wisdom of Emily Eavis to hand he says, “It’s a big draw to have Emily as she’s rarely on industry conferences or panels. So to find out about her experiences so far running the festival is a really good opportunity. She’s also obviously really passionate about the south west so it will be really valuable.”

The event takes place on November 7 and access to the discussion panel is free.

Show tickets are £7.50 and available through: www.3ca.org.uk
