Venue of the Month: To The Moon
Established in 2016, To the Moon was opened by husband and wife, Chris and Gemma.
Located on Midland Road, it can be found in among the historical streets of Old Market, which was the first part of the city to be built around the castle.
In recent years, Old Market has been seen a rebirth with new shops, pubs and venues opening, including The Elmer’s Arms, Glitch Studio and 25A Old Market.
is needed now More than ever
The new, one day festival, Outer Town Festival is held at several different locations in Old Market, putting the area back on the map.
“We aim to offer unique setting which embraces Old Market’s diverse community as well as welcoming all from far and wide,” Chris tells Bristol24/7.
The venue is part of the Good Night Out and Bristol Zero Tolerance campaigns which supports zero tolerance toward discrimination of any kind.
Open five days a week, the venue plays host of open deck nights, live DJ and music sets from a range of talent across the city.
“A stand out gig for us was when we were lucky enough to have DJ Dazee play here, a bit of a local hero of ours and as you can imagine in a small place was crazy!”, Chris tells us.
“Another memorable night was the bar’s 6th birthday last year, as we missed the previous two year’s celebration due to Covid and there was an amazing vibe with people celebrating being able to be out and about again.”
Like all venues across the country, To the Moon had to adapt when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, offering takeaway cocktails and sit down events where they could.
On May 20, the venue will be celebrating their 7th birthday party with a free event taking place from 7pm to 12am.
