Watch the new ThisisDA video
When it comes to creativity in the Bristol rap scene, thisisDA has been leaps ahead for a while.
As well as a string of highly acclaimed EPs, his growing list of accomplishments include NTS radio shows and support slots for the most regal rappers when they pass through Bristol. Last week we caught him at Mr Wolfs as he joined jazz and hip-hop outfit SumoChief, seemingly reinvigorated with new music and energy.

His new animated video for The SufferBus also dropped last week. The video’s lead editor Antonia Blakeman explains his vision:
“I wanted to follow ThisisDA’s lyrics, I thought it was very important that the animation symbolically and metaphorically connected to what he was saying. Reflecting the feeling and vibe of the song. I also have always loved Cartoon Network and wanted to bring back those ’90s TV show animation feels.
I felt the song was about when you follow your dreams, but following your dreams turns out to be more difficult and painful than you imagined, which can be true for a lot of artists and creatives. Doing art or music can sometimes feel like a suffering ride that you signed up for but can’t get off.”
While we’re at it, here’s ThisisDA’s previous video, featuring Bristol-based dancers Jodelle Douglas and Ramelle Williams.
The SufferBus and Over are both taken from the rapper’s 2016 release 21 & Done.
