Why we are championing women in Bristol’s nighttime economy

By Ellie Pipe  Wednesday Mar 30, 2022

A month-long focus on putting women at the heart of issues surrounding Bristol’s night life will culminate in a live panel discussion at Lost Horizon.

The city is renowned for its vibrant music, festival, cultural and culinary scene but as businesses and organisations rebuild in the wake of the pandemic, there is a renewed drive to make venues and streets are safe, inclusive and welcoming to all.

Last year, it was recognised that extra efforts need to be made to ensure people are safe after dark and Bristol City Council was awarded £282,000 to tackle crimes against women at night.

Women and non binary people have a vital role to play in creating positive change and Bristol24/7 Presents: Celebrating Women in the Nighttime Economy will highlight some of the incredible work already being done and seek to tackle challenges faced.

The first live event hosted by Bristol24/7 since before the pandemic will feature a discussion between panellists with a diverse range of expertise, from tackling the gender imbalance in the music industry to security, sexual harassment training and more.

Held in association with Bristol Nights, the event at Lost Horizon will shine a light on the many incredible women and non binary people at the heart of the city’s night life scene and welcome a new generation by ensuring spaces are inclusive and safe.

Above all, this will be a celebration of all that is great about the city’s diverse offering with lively discussion and music. The bar will be open from 6pm and the panel discussion will start at 6.30pm. We welcome questions in advance or on the night.
