Win tickets to Seth Lakeman Tyntesfield gig

By Laura Williams  Friday Jul 31, 2015

Westcountry folk singer, songwriter and multi- instrumentalist Seth Lakeman heads to Tyntesfield to unearth hidden histories and commemorate unsung heroes from his latest album ‘Word of Mouth’.

Seth’s previous albums include the Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘Kitty Jay’ (2005) and the gold-selling ‘Freedom Fields’ (2006) which featured the hit singles Lady of the Sea and The White Hare.

Seth has performed everywhere from Libya to Australia to Texas over the years, as well as featuring on just about every major festival bill across the UK. In addition, he has toured extensively around Europe too where he’s also performed with others including Tori Amos and Clannad. In 2013 amidst a hectic summer of festival appearances, recording the new album and the birth of his twins he flew to New York to meet Izzy Young for a BBC Radio 4 special called ‘The Folklorist’.

Winner of BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2014, Seth is a regular on the South West gig and festival circuit but this is the first time he’s played a gig at a local National Trust place.

Tyntesfield, which is just 15 minutes away from Bristol has been experimenting more with musical offerings in recent years, and hosted Patrick Wolf’s Night Songs back in February 2015.

This Seth Lakeman gig is one of two Live From The Lawn events, the other featuring The Stranglers and taking place on Sunday August 16. Tickets available online at: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/tyntesfield/things-to-see-and-do/events/
