‘Blue Remembered Hills’ comes to The Hen & Chicken Studio

By Sarski Anderson  Monday Mar 21, 2022

Despite its punchy runtime, at only an hour, Dennis Potter’s Blue Remembered Hills is characterised as a disturbing play that lingers long in the memory.

The story, in which adult actors play a gang of seven year-old children, is being brought to life by Angelhair and JDJB Productions, under the direction of Alison Comley.

Featuring Duncan Bonner, Alan Coveney, Jasmine Darke, T-J Davies, John Lomas, Tim Prior and Dee Sadler, it will be at The Hen and Chicken Studio on March 28-31.

On a sunny, summer afternoon in the midst of wartime England, seven children play in the Forest of Dean; the boys fight over apples, chase squirrels and imagine being fighter pilots whilst Angela and Audrey play house in the barn.

So far, so idyllic. But as the hour ticks by, dark shadows intrude, innocence is lost and we see the seeds of human cruelty as through a microscope.
