Derren Brown to play four shows in Bristol in 2022
Derren Brown is returning to the city where he began his magical career while still a student as part of a nationwide tour in 2022.
The University of Bristol law and German graduate used to perform at venues including the former Byzantium and Glassboat restaurants before finding global fame.
His new show promises to feature “some extraordinary demonstrations of my voodoo”.
is needed now More than ever
The content of the show, coming to Bristol Hippodrome from May 24 to 28 2022, is currently still under wraps, although Brown has revealed that his plans for the tour changed because of the Covid lockdown.
According to the master illusionist, lockdown allowed him to rework his original idea, which focussed on how “the tough things in life that we feel isolate us, tend in fact to bring us together, and be the very things that we share”.
“The heart of the show is about remembering what’s important. Like how the very things that we find most isolating in life – our fears and difficulties – actually connect us.
“Framed with what I think will be some extraordinary demonstrations of my voodoo.”
Brown’s live shows have previously won two Olivier Awards, along with multiple other nominations. His one-man show has been nominated for more Oliviers overall than any other.
Brown says that he expects the 2022 Showman tour to be his biggest in 20 years.
“It’s exciting and daunting and I’m considering a bigger suitcase. Maybe even a four-wheeler. It’s madness and I can’t wait.”
Derren Brown will be playing at Bristol Hippodrome from May 24-28 2022. For tickets and more information, visit www.atgtickets.com/shows/derren-brown-showman/bristol-hippodrome
