Magic of panto in exculsive backstage tour

By Pamela Parkes  Monday Dec 15, 2014

Every panto needs glitz, glamour and sparkle to create Christmas magic and Dick Whittington, at the Hippodrome, has all that – and a dancing dog to boot.

Ashleigh and Pudsey, Ben Faulks (AKA Mr Bloom) and Bristol pantomime legend Andy Ford, star in the classic rags-to-riches tale of a young man and his cat, on a quest for fame and fortune.

There is plenty to hiss and boo at with the evil King Rat, spectacular sets and even an underwater 3D sequence .

Yes, every panto has sing-a-long songs, slapstick humour and thigh slapping moments, but what does it take to put on an all-singing, all dancing extravaganza?

Panto favourite Andy Ford takes us on a backstage tour of Dick Whittington, and explains the tricks of the panto trade.

Dick Whittington is at the Bristol Hippodrome until January 4th
