The musical will tour the UK and Ireland next year, coming to Bristol from Tuesday, April 7 to Saturday, May 9.

Mackintosh has also announced the casting for the second year of the tour with Dean Chisnall playing Jean Valjean, Nic Greenshields playing Javert and Katie Hall as Fantine. The talented cast will also include Katie Hall as Fantine and Harry Apps and Maurius.

Its first UK tour since 2010, which concluded with 22 performances at the Barbican, looks to be equally as popular and its last round a decade ago.

Tickets will go on sale for the show in September, with a presale 10am on Monday, September 23 and general sale at 10am on Wednesday, September 25.

This production inspired the hugely successful and popular movie version starring Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, which is also based on the original novel by Victor Hugo.

Staging and scenery have also been inspired by paintings by Hugo and the show is set to dazzle the Hippodrome with songs such as I Dreamed a Dream and Do You Hear the People Sing? next spring.
