New executive director for Tobacco Factory Theatres

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Jul 4, 2018

Tobacco Factory Theatres has announced the appointment of Mary Caws as its new Executive Director. Taking over from outgoing executive director Lauren Scholey, Mary will join artistic director Mike Tweddle when she takes up her post on Wednesday, August 1.

Before joining Tobacco Factory Theatres, Mary served as interim executive director at the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch and previously as executive director at Theatre Royal Stratford East and the Watford Palace Theatre.

She says: “I am delighted to be joining Mike and the team at Tobacco Factory Theatres as the organisation gets ready to open the doors of the new Spielman Theatre. I am relishing the opportunity to build on the inspiring achievements of this organisation and look forward to working with the team on the opportunities across programming, audiences and community engagement that are unlocked by the opening of the new studio theatre.”

She joins us as we embark on an ambitious new chapter in the organisation’s life – with two world-class theatre spaces at the centre of a reimagined building that will open its doors to new audiences, and offer powerful opportunities to local communities. I have no doubt that Mary’s passion, experience and leadership will enable us to achieve our aspirations in powerful and sustainable ways.”

Sarah Smith, Chair of the Trustees says: “The Trustees are delighted with the appointment of Mary Caws, who has an impressive track record as Executive Director of a number of prominent theatres.
