Peacock: The show mixing masculinity and makeup
After its recent sell-out tour of Be, Greedy Pig Theatre Company has announced a new tour with its show, Peacock.
Peacock follows bisexual man Seamus who is experimenting with makeup and the concept of masculinity as he tries to navigate his identity.
The show is written by Douglas Murdoch and is inspired by his own experience and relationship between masculinity and makeup.
is needed now More than ever
The character of Seamus is played by Ben Armitage having previous roles in Macbeth and The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Other cast members include Alice Wollacot as Violet, Kofi Dennis as Tyrell, and Toby Mitchell as Noah.
Peacock, directed by Lex Kaby, is described as having “a heart-warming core, and a soundtrack of pop anthems, Peacock is an uplifting, hilarious and authentic look at the taboo surrounding men wearing makeup.”
Greedy Pig Theatre Company regularly creates pieces focusing on social issues with its highly reviewed Close your Eyes, I’m Filming – which tackles social media addiction and abuse.
Its play Be focuses on gender expression, being named as one of Bristol24/7’s cultural highlights of 2022.
Greedy Pig Theatre Company strives to create positive, impactful theatre and hopes to replicate this with its “uplifting” show, Peacock.
Peacock will be showing at the Alma Tavern theatre at 8pm between February 14-16, with tickets starting at £12.
Viewers must be aged 14 and over due to themes such as suicide, homophobia and strong language.
