The Cube present a 21st century ‘Do-It-Together’ pantomime for all
“What happens when the panto horse splits in two and goes on the run through space and time?”
That’s the central question underpinning the collaborative pantomime from the volunteer-run Cube Cinema team, who have been working on the show with artist and self-styled “deluxe apocalypse entertainer, composter of music, opera conjurer and drum-machine cyborg”, Ergo Phizmiz.
Performers, artists and technicians at the indie microplex have been working together to create an original piece of participatory theatre that reflects on the long traditions of pantomime whilst also attempting to breathe new life into the medium.

Audiences are promised music, science, interaction and illusions, satire, fantasy, and plenty of special guests – and all inspired by the magical world of quantum science.
So, what does happen to that horse?
“A thrilling farcical chase is what occurs! It’s behind you, it’s in front of you… it’s all over the place!”
The pantomime is a spectacle that has been assembled on a micro budget, and the wide range of ticket options on sale ensures it is an affordable show, with additional higher-priced options to pay it forward for those that are in a position to do so.
There is also an opportunity to become a panto patron, which will include some extra benefits, and will help to allow the event to continue year on year.
Although it is very contemporary in style, above all the team behind the show are keen to emphasise the unifying nature of pantomime, which is, at its heart, a celebration.
The Quantum Horse: A Cubist Pantomime (all ages welcome) is at the Cube Microplex on February 2-5 and 9-12; showtimes are 7pm on weekdays and 2.30pm matinee shows on weekends. Tickets are available from www.headfirstbristol.co.uk.
