Theatre and Comedy picks: Nov 13-19, 2017

This week sees the return of Bristol’s brilliant Stepping Out with a splendid pairing of piece and venue. The company are performing The Provoked Wife (pictured top), Sir John Vanbrugh’s 1697 Restoration Comedy, in the very house – Kings Weston – that the polymath Vanbrugh designed.

Eleswhere, Myrtle Theatre’s poignant and life-affirming Up Down Man continues (our review), as does Kneehigh/Bristol Old Vic’s brand new adaptation of Gunter Grass’ great, riotous, unclassifiable novel The Tin Drum (our review) and Raucous’ supremely atmospheric Siege of Leningrad epic Ice Road (our review).

Laughs this week come courtesy of fast-rising Bristolian Jayde Adams, the sharp and engaging Radio 4 regular Ellie Taylor, those Jane Austen improvmeisters Austentatious and the reluctantly quinquagenarian Richard Herring.
