All you need to know about Pride Day 2019
Following over two weeks of events, Bristol’s Pride Festival will sign off with a bang as Pride Day 2019 in Bristol takes place on Saturday, July 13.
As this year is the tenth anniversary of Bristol Pride, the organisers are dedicated to ensuring that 2019 will be the biggest festival so far.
After an outstanding 36,000 people attended Pride Day last year, they are moving the festival to a new, much bigger home – The Downs – which will double the festival capacity.

The parade, however, will remain in the city centre and kick off the day’s events. Last year an incredible 12,000 people marched, and as this year even more people are expected.
The parade will gather at 10am in Castle Park and depart at 10:45am. The route is two miles long and will finish at Lloyds Amphitheatre.
2018’s parade weaves through the city centre
The whole day, including the parade and events at The Downs, will be free of charge. However, attendees are encouraged to buy a supporter wristband as a way of supporting the event. With it enjoy rewards such as money off drinks at the bars and using a separate dedicated wristband gate lane.
On The Downs, there will be music and performances, community and family areas. New for this year is the silent disco, alongside bars, food and markets. There will also be a dance stage, music stage and cabaret, a VIP area, and an alcohol-free youth area.
It is only a short walk from the city centre, and there are also good public transport links. The nearest train station is Clifton Down, and the number one, two, three and four will go between the city centre to the Downs.
People with Pride Supporter Wristbands will get free bus travel with First Bus in the Bristol Zone the whole day. There will also be shuttle buses between the amphitheatre where the parade ends and the Downs that are free for wristband holders.

Alcohol is not allowed to be brought onto the festival site, and there will be security searches in place – festival goers are advised not to bring a bag unless it is absolutely necessary. There will be first aid tents, toilets, free water stations and a cash machine on site.
As they want to create an event that is open and welcoming to everyone, there will be a dedicated accessible viewing area and an accessible toilet with an adult-sized changing bench and a hoist.
There will also be BSL interpreters on all stages, on display on the main screen to ensure visibility for all.
The celebrations continue into the night, and the official Pride 2019 afterparty will take place at Bristol O2 Academy, with headline DJs, club nights and live performances across three rooms. Tickets cost £12 in advance or £15 on the door. All proceeds from the official afterparty go to keeping Pride Day running in the years to come.
