New festival combines veganism and yoga

By Katie Button  Thursday Jul 18, 2019

Bristol boasts a thriving yoga community, with many yoga studios and independent yoga classes and it’s vegan scene is growing steadily alongside it. It should come as no surprise then that the city is now going to get its first Yoga and Vegan Festival.

The day-long festival will take place at Fairfield High School on Saturday, September 7. It comes after Bristol was listed as one of the top five vegan-friendly cities in the UK by Nisbets.

Besides over 40 yoga and meditation classes, the festival also promises a vegan and yoga exhibition with stalls, a vegan food market, talks on mental health as well as live music and children’s entertainment.

The event is being organised by Yogific, an organisation that hosts vegan-themed yoga festivals across the UK and Europe, so far hosting over 25 events have been held in five countries.

Several charities are partnering with the event, including local charity Getting Beth Better. The organisation will have a stall selling vegan cakes to raise money for the treatment of Beth, a young nursing student from Somerset who has been battling chronic Lyme disease.

A vegan food market will also be available, with several stalls raising money for charity

Festival manager Grace Fox, who is also lives in Bristol, says: “Bristol has been famous around the world for its vegan offerings and now with this festival, our city will also earn recognition for its yoga scene. We have been inundated with emails from local teachers, businesses and local residents who want to support the event.”

According to the festivals official Facebook page, over a thousand people are interested in attending the event.

“The kind of response that we have been receiving nearly two months ahead of the event is just spectacular. We hope to have a successful event and raise lots of money for our partner charities,” adds Grace.
