Preview: Bristol Burlesque Festival 2019
Returning for a seventh year, Bristol Burlesque Festival brings the best of the performance art to the South West.
Running over three nights in September at The Bristol Improv Theatre, the festival showcases talent from Bristol, the UK and further afield.
The festival starts on Thursday, September 19 with ‘Rebels’. Acts include Lily Belle from Bristol and cabaret performers from around the rest of the UK. Armi Von Fep, from Finland, and Skirt Vonnegut, from the US will also perform, before the evening reaches its climatic end with headliner Symoné.
is needed now More than ever
Symoné combines her love of dancehall, vogue and contemporary movement with hula hooping and roller skating. Her cabaret and circus skills have led to international tours across eight countries, and the break-out star is famed for her feel-good performances.

Friday, September 20 looks to be just as impressive, with a stellar lineup for the ‘Outlaws’ show.
Hosted by Bristol queen Dis Charge and featuring local performers Isaac Dix and Tuesday Laveau, it will be a firey night.
Cabaret acts from London, Brighton, Wales and Switzerland join the lineup too, with a headline performance from Ryhs’ Pieces. A featured member of London’s Queefy Cabaret and The LipSinkers, Rhys’ Pieces combines live vocals, spoken word, contemporary dance and strip craft in their work.
The final night, ‘Radicals’ on Saturday, September 21, will again be hosted by Dis Charge and feature more unrivalled talent. Bristol queen Mariana Trench will perform alongside a lineup of diverse performers from across the UK, Germany, Australia and the Phillapines.

The international lineup – showing that Bristol is very much offering its hand out to welcome its global cabaret family – will be headlined by Nox Falls.
Describing herself as “thicker than a Snickers and twice as salty”, Nox Falls is a risqué performer, with a focus on slow-burn striptease and kink. Coming from Seattle in the USA, Nox Falls promises to be a headliner that reminds audience members to embrace their bodies.
With a diverse and international lineup of talented performers over three nights of stellar burlesque performance, these will be cabaret nights not to miss.
