Preview: Bristol International Balloon Fiesta 2019
Celebrating ‘Icons of Bristol’, 2019’s balloon fiesta will celebrate Concorde, the 30th anniversary of Wallace & Gromit and a whole host of other well-loved Bristol creations and people as well.
Taking place over four days, from Thursday, August 8 to Sunday, August 11, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta will showcase over 100 balloons.
The event will begin with balloons of all shapes and sizes taking off on Thursday evening, early mornings will see mass ascents over the city and the nightglow will take over as darkness falls on Thursday and Saturday.
is needed now More than ever
As well as the balloon ascents, there is entertainment for all throughout the day, such as aerial displays, children’s activities and entertainment and fairground rides.
Attendees can also expect a range of food stalls and bars, balloon demonstrations, model aircraft displays and a local music stage, all in the grounds of Ashton Court.
The fiesta, Europe’s largest hot air balloon festival, is also raising money for St Peter’s Hospice for a second year, a local charity that supports people with life-limiting illnesses.
