Preview: Dot To Dot Festival 2019

By Lowie Trevena  Saturday May 18, 2019

Starting in 2005, Dot To Dot is the ultimate metropolitan festival – taking place in Manchester, Nottingham and Bristol over the late May Bank Holiday.

A great way to discover new talent as well as a chance to see established acts, the festival tours between the three cities, coming to Bristol on Saturday, May 25.

Announced artists for 2019 include the much-loved Swim Deep, who are sure to serve up some dream-like spring tunes. Dream Wife, the noisy, all-female guitar band that started as an art project will take to the stage too, as well as The Orielles, who have gone from strength-to-strength since signing to Heavenly Records in 2018.

Many more acts are still to be announced, but with a lineup consisting of bands such as Heavy Lungs and Swimming Girls and artists including singer Lauren Aquilina, it’s going to be a stellar day of amazing music.

In each city, Dot To Dot is split between numerous venues. In Bristol, the O2 Academy, SWX, Rough Trade and The Fleece are some of the venues taking part.

Behind Thekla, Access Creative will be sponsoring an acoustic stage, with students performing throughout the day. Six alumni of the college’s music courses will take to stage, including Bristol-based Elea Calvert and Alina Flaherty.

Starting at 11am, with bands playing late into the night, a ticket will give access to each venue and a chance to see the next big thing.

This one-day festival ensures seeing the best upcoming and established acts, all with the chance to sleep in a comfy bed when the night draws to a close.
