Preview: Knee Deep Festival 2019

By Ellie Pipe  Friday Aug 23, 2019

Knee Deep Festival returns to a field in Cornwall for 2019 with yet another stellar lineup.

The friendly 1,200-capacity non-profit music and arts festival has gained a reputation for punching above its weight in showcasing some of the best up and coming talent, and this year’s event, taking place from Friday, August 30 to Saturday 31, is no exception.

Headliners for 2019 include Dublin’s steely new post-punk prospects Fontaines D.C., rising south London Jazz prodigy Nubya Garcia, deep-cut selector Awesome Tapes From Africa, worldly-psych four-piece Flamingods and the genre-blurring NUXXE collective singer and DJ Shygirl.

Knee Deep has been branded Cornwall’s best kept secret festival

This eighth instalment of Knee Deep, branded Cornwall’s best kept secret festival, also features a strong lineup of Bristol-based talent, including: Scalping, formed in 2017 through a love of Bristol’s visionary off-the-wall dance music and full throttle noise and punk, DJ Danielle, Pet Shimmers and a Noods Radio takeover, featuring Franco Franco & Kinlaw, Tilly b2b MLE.

The festival also puts on a proudly diverse programme of creative workshops, performance art, spoken word, interactive installations and forward-thinking talks.

Now taking place over two days and nights, with five stages and plenty to discover in between, Knee Deep Festival was first started by a group of friends and music lovers, who pride themselves on recognising emerging talent.
