Preview: Knowle West Fest 2018
Community festival Knowle West Fest returns to Filwood Community Centre on Saturday September 22 and is set to be bigger and better than ever.
This year the festival is a double celebration: not only will it showcase the best of Knowle West, but it will also mark the 80th birthday of Filwood Community Centre.

Bristol’s mayor Marvin Rees has attended the event in the past
‘Proud of Knowle West’ is this year’s theme, with homegrown talent including singer KALA CHNG, Laid Blak’s DJ Bunjy and X Factor star Daniel Quick providing the entertainment. There will also be a market, with locals selling their homemade goods.

The festival promises to have something for everyone. Those that attend will be able to try their hand at dancing, den making, martial arts, circus skills and arts and crafts activities, while film screenings will keep the whole family entertained, and there will be plenty of food stalls to keep everyone fed.
Organisers stress that the festival is open to all ages, with the event set to feature a special sing-along for the elderly, sponsored by LinkAge Network.
Filwood Community Centre’s Makala Cheung, who herself will be performing at the festival, says: “I believe our community is amazing. We have an amazing centre, amazing people and amazing talent. I can’t wait for everyone to come together and celebrate this.”
Knowle West Fest takes place at Filwood Community Centre from 1-10pm on Saturday, September 22 2018. Tickets cost £1 per person and can be bought from www.headfirstbristol.co.uk. Under 5s go free and under 14s must be accompanied by an adult.
