Preview: Knowle West Fest 2019
South Bristol’s Knowle West Fest returns after a successful community event last year.
Taking place in the afternoon of Saturday, September 7, the festival will be located at Filwood Community Centre – which celebrated its 80th birthday in 2018.
Running from 1pm to 8pm, the event will be feature live music from 1pm until 5pm, with DJs playing from 5pm until the festival finishes at 8pm.

Performing at this year’s spectacle includes Bristol reggae artist Da Fuchaman and DJ Bunjy from Laid Blak. KALA CHNG, an electro-pop musician with a “Chinese twist” from Knowle West and hip hop collective 3Culture are also billed to play.

There will also be activities on throughout the day for all ages to enjoy, as the festival’s organisers emphasise that the festival for everyone.
There will be a chance to have a go at arts and crafts, circus skills, costume making and crazy golf. There will also be dancing, den making, face painting and ping pong, with more still be announced.
Filwood Community Centre’s Makala Cheung says that attendees should “expect the unexpected”.
“We’re celebrating culture from Knowle West culture, and what we love in Knowle West, to all the new cultures that have moved into the area,” she adds.
“This is a mini launch of our first monthly community market, so you can find out about that too. We’re still inviting people to get involved and help. If you can help us set up, then you will get in for free.”

Tickets cost £2 and can be bought in advance or on the day of the fest from Filwood Community Centre. Under fives go free while under 14s must be accompanied by an adult. Find out more on the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/KnowleWestFest
