Remembrance Day events in Bristol

The Cenotaph, City Centre
November 9, From 10.30am

This service has been held annually since 1920, when the Cenotaph was built. It is jointly organised by the Lord Mayor’s office and the Royal British Legion (troops, band and cannon) at the Cenotaph on the city centre.

The Bristol City Pipes & Drums will lead a parade from College Green, marching off at 10.30am, and will play at the Cenotaph immediately prior to the Service

The service includes two minutes silence from 11am to 11.02am and is attended by The Lord Mayor, Lady Mayoress, former Lord Mayors , Honorary Aldermen, Bristol City Council officers, MPs, the Lord Lieutenant and the Deputy Lieutenants, High Sheriff of Bristol, Magistrates and troops.

 

Royal British Legion, Bishopsworth
November 9, 10.15am

The Bishopsworth Branch of The Royal British Legion will host a Remembrance Day Parade, with the Blenheim Scout Ravens Marching Band leading the way. The Parade will leave the Legion in Manor Road, Bishopsworth at 10.15am returning at approximately 10.50am where a Remembrance service will be held. Everyone is then invited into the Legion for entertainment and refreshments. 

 

Holy Trinity Church, Kingswood
November 9, From 2.30pm

A remembrance service will be held at Holy Trinity Church following a parade organised by the Kingswood and Hanham Royal British Legion branch. The parade will march from Cecil Road car park at 2.30pm and include a short wreath-laying service at the war memorial.

 

Victoria Methodist Church, Clifton
November 9, 6.30pm 

A service of prayers, readings, poems and music in honour of Remembrance Day. The Victoria Church Choir will sing Byrd, Farrant, Goss and Stanford. 

 

Somerset Square, Nailsea
November 11, 10.50am

Tony Roake and Jolyon Trickey (Chaplain to the RBL) will jointly lead the Act of Remembrance in Somerset Square. The event is organised by Royal British Legion and Christians Together in Nailsea. Local shops have been invited to join in, so expect the surrounding areas to be quiet while the act is performed.
