Win tickets to Bristol Temples Festival 2015

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Apr 1, 2015

Given Bristol’s reputation as a city full of trip-hop-loving hipsters, it is perhaps the last place you’d expect to host a popular heavy music festival.

But last year’s inaugural three-day Temples bash at Motion was a resounding success, concluding with a magnificent set from Clutch.

Little wonder that weekend tickets for the follow-up on May 29-31 have already sold out – but we’ve teamed up with the organisers to bring you this tricket competition with entry for two up for grabs.

Friendly and relaxed despite the ferocity of the music, the resolutely independent, sponsor-free Temples boasts more than 75 bands spread across two stages – including the main room which is now known as the Marble Factory.

This year’s headliners are American metalcore titans Converge (Fri), deafening drone metal duo Sunn O))) [pictured] (Sat), and, er, even more drone metal from Earth, fronted by Kurt Cobain’s old chum Dylan Carlson (Sun).

Other highlights in the packed bill include doom heroes Pallbearer, French-Canadian prog-metal veterans Voivod, splendidly named stoners Bongzilla, Radio 1 Rock show presenter Daniel P. Carter’s metal ‘supergroup’ Krokodil, Celtic Frost founder Thomas Gabriel Fischer’s Triptykon, and delightfully named US grindcore combo Pig Destroyer.

Among those keeping the local end up are Bristol bands Anta (excellent instrumental prog-metal) and atmospheric doomsters Sonance.
