Five dance streams to choose from, alongside three evening parties at Trinity, cabarets, live bands, after party, and tea dance. Plus 13 circus skills tasters, from trapeze to tumbling.

Easter Sculpture Festival

April 19-22, Price: £8.80, www.bristol.ac.uk/botanic-garden

Bristol Uni’s botanic garden might primarily be a living library of plants from around the world, but it also has a fine eye for art. Witness last year’s Luke Jerram collaboration, the Impossible Garden, and this annual collection of nature-suiting sculptures wrought from wood, ceramics, metal and stone.

Cheltenham Poetry Festival

April 26 to May 6, Price: various, www.cheltenhampoetryfest.co.uk

Virile gathering of verse virtuosos – ticket sales for 2018 were up by over a third on the previous year, thanks to readings from the likes of  Murray Lachlan Young and Amir Darwish. Among those ready to stanza and deliver this time around are Professor Elemental, Kim Moore and Cian Murphy, while there are also talks, poetry film showcases, slams and spoken word cabarets, and a new Chapter and Verse festival strand looks to fuse poetry and prose.

International

Coachella

April 12-14 and April 19-21, California, USA, Price: $429 w/e, www.coachella.com

Properly big time gathering, these days attracting 250,000 attendees and grossing the far side of $100m. Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande are your headliners for the 20th anniversary year, with an undercard including the likes of Aphex Twin, Janelle Monae, The 1975 and Solange.
