The ‘first lady of folk’ has been has been revealed as the headliner for this year’s Bristol Folk Festival.

The festival’s lineup also includes Jon Boden, who headlines St George’s on May 2, performing with his new group The Remnant Strings; and the unique Caribbean-British fusion of Edward II closing the festival on May 3 at St George’s.

Bristol Folk Festival creative director, Dr Anna Rutherford, said: “Topping our storming first year in 2019, was always going to be a challenge, but in Kate Rusby and Jon Boden we have the king and queen of folk.

“We are exceptionally proud to welcome artists of this calibre to Bristol, and to open the Folk Festival in the majestic surrounds of Bristol Cathedral will be a magical moment to treasure forever in the memory of this special city.”

Bristol Folk Festival takes place from May 1 to 3, with the main venues Bristol Cathedral, St George’s and the Folk House as the festival expands for 2020.
