Bristol Jazz & Blues festival unveils 2019 programme
Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival has announced another action packed bill for its 2019 edition which will take place next March.
Moving out of Colston Hall due to temporary closure; the festival will be taking over other venues in the area like The Anson Rooms, St George’s and O2 Academy.
Once again the event will bring an eclectic mixture of jazz and blues artists from across the globe. The big draw this year comes with China Moses, who will lead a special line-up celebrating 60 years of Lady in Satin.

Elsewhere The Herbaliser is set to be a big show at The O2 Academy while a bigger blues programme that previous years is topped off by Lucky Peterson.
Renowned French accordion and bandoneon player Richard Galliano is set to open the festival, bringing his exceptional New Jazz Musette quartet.
Pee Wee Ellis is also set to make a triumphant return after his stellar set last year although this time he’ll come armed with new arrangements to perform with a string orchestra and rhythm section.
There’s also some big local names on the bill. Legendary Bristol born improvisor and composer Keith Tippett is set to make a return to the stage. He’ll be joined by pianist Matthew Bourne for a riveting new duo that explores the power of the grand piano.
Welsh pianist Huw Warren presents the English premiere of Do Not Go Gentle, a project celebrating the life and words of Dylan Thomas’ project and featuring some of the UK’s most respected jazz musicians Iain Ballamy, Steve Watts and Martin France
More tributes appear on the lineup with The Classical Ellington offering a rare opportunity to hear a top-notch big band perform Duke Ellington’s arrangements of classical works, including Peer Gynt and the Nutcracker Suits alongside a new arrangement of Holst’s The Planets by band leader Pete Long.
This is just the tip of the iceberg though, the full line-up also includes esteemed names like Liane Carroll, Kirk Fletcher, Aynsley Lister, Ian Seigel and the Bristol Bluesmen who are sure to be festival highlights.
Once again the festival will offer a series of masterclass workshops, providing a chance to learn first hand from some of these acclaimed artists. Kirk Fletcher, Pee Wee Ellis and Liane Carroll are just some of those who will be holding sessions in which they pass on some of their techniques and advice to amateurs, students and professionals alike.
Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival goes on sale on November 15 with an early bird discount of 10%. The full line-up and tickets are available via: www.bristoljazzandbluesfest.com
