Community festival to return after two-year break
A community festival is to return after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Knowle West Fest, which was paused last year, took place online in 2020 and last took place in person in 2019.
But now the festival will return to its usual setting, Filwood Community Centre in Barnstaple Road, on Saturday, October 1 for a full-scale event.
is needed now More than ever
Organised by Knowle West Media Centre, the event, from midday to 8pm, will feature live music, food, stalls and a whole host of activities.
Knowle West Fest was launched in 2015 as a way of celebrating local talent, culture and community – and it has since become an annual event.
Performing at this year’s event include Knowle West superstar KALA CHNG, DJ Bunjy of Laid Blak, and the Bristol Reggae Orchestra.
While activities include a puppet-making workshop with Tessa Bide, a cyanotype workshop in the community centre’s darkroom, and Filwood Crazy Golf.

The day will also coincide with the monthly Filwood Community Market, which will be taking place in the community centre’s sports hall with an array of traders.
Local resident and artist Claudia Collins, who is on the organising committee of the festival, says she is excited to be a part of the event.
She said: “Glasto is back and so is Knowle West Fest! So many talented people live here – and the festival is a great chance to showcase that!”
Knowle West Fest takes place from midday to 8pm on Saturday, October 1 at Filwood Community Centre in Barnstaple Road, Knowle West.
