Massive Attack and Idles to play online festival

By Martin Booth  Saturday Apr 25, 2020

An online festival taking place within a computer game on Saturday features Massive Attack and Idles among its lineup.

It will be the first time that the two Bristol acts have appeared on the same bill, with the acts joining Pussy Riot and more at Block By Blockwest.

The festival on Saturday from 8pm will be held within Minecraft, where players build huge online worlds.

Massive Attack are expected to perform a set featuring songs from their show in collaboration with filmmaker Adam Curtis, seen in Bristol in 2019 within a temporary venue on the former Filton Airfield.

All proceeds from Block by Blockwest will go to the Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund, a USA-based charity.

3D said he was “delighted to finally share a bill with Idles, and to expect Siberian punk covers and more”.

Massive Attack recently donated £10,000 to the Bristol Food Union, which sees staff from closed restaurants across the city cooking free food for frontline workers.
