Sea Shanty Festival returns to the Floating Harbour for 2023
More than 200 shanty singers are set to come together for “a celebration of our beautiful city in songs of the sea”.

It takes place on Saturday with a packed programme of maritime music running from 12pm until 9.45pm at seven locations dotted around the Floating Harbour. These include Underfall Yard, Arnolfini and the Matthew.

“The city of Bristol has an incredible maritime history, shown off along two nautical miles of harbourside that just keeps getting better and better,” wrote organisers shanty crew High and Dry, who are also perforning on the day.
“So much atmosphere and so many places to visit. Amazing things to see, brilliant pubs and truly world class places to eat.”
“And given that we have more salty singing talent than any other city in the UK as well as the very best sea shanty crews, groups and choirs from counties within a day’s sail – well, it’s crying out for a maritime music celebration.”
“So once again, local shantymen, High and Dry bring you the free… Bristol Sea Shanty Festival 2023.”
2023’s event will raise money for to help rebuild the Underfall Yard’s buildings which were destroyed by a fire in May.
Last year, the festival raised over £6,000 for various charities, including the RNLI, Somerset Prostate Support Association and Children’s Hospice South West.
