Tokyo World 2021 confirmed taking place

By Lowie Trevena  Thursday Feb 25, 2021

After a difficult year of festival cancellations and postponements in 2020, Tokyo World has made the call to go ahead for 2021.

The festival, held at Eastville Park, has announced that it will take place on September 18 & 19, with tickets going on sale on Monday, March 8.

Tokyo World 2020 was postponed in August last year, the festival agreed to rollover all tickets bought for that year to 2021.

On postponing 2020’s event, the organisers said: “Tokyo World is fully independent, and we would like to say a huge thank you to the support we’ve been given during this pandemic from all our customers.

‘You can rest assured we will indeed smash 2020 into oblivion upon our return in 2021.”

Tokyo World’s 2021 theme, Chapter 1: Change Is Coming, will see dance, electronic hip-hop and neo-soul music played throughout the weekend.

The lineup is still to be announced, but 2019 saw Craig David, Gorgon City and Wilkinson play.

The after party is also hinted to return. It is still unknown whether the promised capacity increase will be implemented (the organisers promised to increased capacity from 10,000 people to 25,000 for 2020).

Whatever happens, organisers say Tokyo World 2021 will be “a very special reunion”.
