Laughter trickles lazily out of the sliding doors of Little Bam as customers enjoy an afternoon pick-me-up.
In what used to be a bike shed, the team behind Bambalan has managed to transform a building you may not have noticed even if queuing directly outside it for the Megabus, into a sleek and bright espresso bar.

The beans here are roasted by Clifton Coffee, while sandwiches, salads and cakes come from the Bambalan kitchen upstairs.
Tables and chairs spill onto the Colston Street pavement in front of a building permeated with glass windows and doors which can now lay claim to being the smallest café in Bristol.
Curious onlookers float in and out, chatting, laughing and drinking coffee, which on the opening week features a few special deals.
The idea is for pocket-sized Bam to be a takeaway coffee joint for people on the go, as it can only comfortably seat eight people inside.
Stools at the window and three tables outside look out onto the original façade of the Colston Hall. There is a view of two naked wrestlers, two naked musicians and two naked dancers made of stone, luckily. Get a cracking coffee fix and a touch of byzantine culture at the same time.
You could easily forget you’re in the city centre. Then a taxi and two motorbikes whizz past. I eat a piece of coffee and caramelized walnut cake (£2.10) and bask in the sunshine.
Offering a lunchtime deal of a coffee or soft drink, a sandwich or salad from Bambalan and a snack for fiver, this little nook pairs ease and quality to provide a relaxed environment to escape from work, with a a no-nonsense coffee menu and service with a smile.
