Harbour & Browns – restaurant review

By Georgia Gillespie  Monday Jun 19, 2017

All you need is love… and Prosecco. That’s according to Cargo 2’s newest edition, Harbour & Browns.

The restaurant offers a variety of brunch and lunch options, including a vast array for vegetarians, as well as small, medium and large meals to occupy any appetite. The most expensive dish on the menu is £22, and a tea or coffee comes in at £1.80.

On the hottest day of the year so far, the outside terrace seating was the perfect spot for an ice cold drink, with a cold glass of fizz definitely the way to go on a beautiful sunny day.

The simple decor and friendly staff helped create a relaxing and calming atmosphere. Considering it’s within a shipping container, the indoor space feels quite spacious.

The team behind Brace & Browns on Whiteladies Road have made clever use of a wooden wall of shelves, cupboards and slots separate the kitchen and the seating area.

Ordering from the medium plates section of the menu, the crispy fish bites (£7) arrived within minutes, piping hot and beautifully presented. The cut-down hake fillet was served with beautiful flavours of roasted garlic, mayo, coriander and lime, but they had been a bit too generous with the salt.

Friendly front of house Alex engaged guests in conversation, with one diner taking a deep breath after his meal and saying: “That was actually flippin’ delicious!”
