Baby born outside craft brewery in St Werburgh’s
A baby born outside a St Werburgh’s brewery now has a beer named after them.
A shock for both the staff at Fierce & Noble and the new parents, baby Jude was born on the pavement outside the brewery at the end of May.
Staff at Fierce & Noble were alarmed when they arrived at work to find blood on the pavement outside the front door.
is needed now More than ever
Later in the day, an email titled “Wednesday Night Incident” from Chris Jury arrived in the team’s inbox, which explained that his wife Sophie had gone into labour at home and that the couple were on the way to the hospital.
However, their newborn couldn’t wait until his parents arrived at Southmead Hospital, and Sophie gave birth on the pavement outside the brewery.
“It was quite a shocking experience as we were meant to be at Southmead in a nice labour ward, however the baby wasn’t hanging around,” says Chris, who gave the location of Fierce & Noble to the emergency services so the new family could be found easily.

Both mother and child were fine and were quickly taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
In honour of the family, the Fierce & Noble team have announced that their next beer will be named after baby Jude.
The Jude beer will be a hoppy, Kolsch-style lager available to buy soon via the brewery’s online shop.
“Obviously it has been a tough time for our staff recently but hearing Chris’ story really gave our team a boost and we could not think of a better name for our next beer,” says operations manager Thomas Rooke.
Chris and Sophie will be sent the first cans for testing.
