Discover new cuisines and cultures at Bristol Food Connections 2018
This year’s Bristol Food Connections, returning to the city from June 11-17, aims to connect different communities and celebrate the diversity of the city’s food scene with events range from an Indian brunch to a fusion of Caribbean and Asian cooking.
The festival is so keen to showcase Bristol’s vibrant food scene that it has even launched a World Food Passport which will enable you to head off on a global food journey within the city, picking up a different stamp and sample to taste wherever you go.

WORLD FOOD PASSPORT
• All week
• Bristol’s Independent District invites you to participate in a World Food Passport Trail to celebrate Bristol Food Connections, travelling around a world of food experiences in the Cheltenham Road, Zetland Road and Gloucester Road area.
• At each stop you’ll be given a different complimentary taster, before getting your passport stamped

MAGEIROS POP-UP: SHARING FOOD FROM IRAN & IVORY COAST
• June 12, midday, Coexist Kitchen, Hamilton House
• Born out of an ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) cookery course for health, cooking and conversation, the Maigeros Pop-Up brings together people from different cultures and backgrounds. It gives them a space to share their traditional foods whilst learning and practicing English, supporting their integration into the community.

CARIB-ASIAN COOKERY
• June 11, 6.30pm Easton Community Centre
• Husband and wife team Sherrie Eugene-Hart and Patrick Hart will fuse the flavours of their parents’ homelands and invite the public to bring food for them to cook too.

SPICES WITHOUT BORDERS
• June 12, 7pm, The Spicery, Feeder Road
• For this special event, come and learn about the people whose lives have been impacted by today’s hostile environment, whilst enjoying a meal together, helping to support the work of Bristol Refugee Rights.
• The event will include a delicious three course meal with non-alcoholic drinks (BYO alcohol), packed full of Middle Eastern and African Flavours.

COMMUNITY IFTAR
• June 13, 7pm, Barton Hill Settlement
• Run by Bristol’s Sudanese Association, Somali Girl’s Cooking Group, Somali Kitchen and Food Without Borders, this unique Iftar celebration will see the breaking of the traditional monthly Ramadan fast with a delicious, open community feast, bringing together people from all walks of society.
• At the event you’ll be able to find out about great food initiatives in your local area and ways you can get involved, whether you’re interested in learning to cook East African food, helping to promote healthy eating, or getting some work experience with local social enterprises. Everyone is welcome to join.

3 COURSES OF CRETAN FOOD WITH MARIANNA LEIVADITAKI
• June 15, 7pm, Coexist Kitchen
• As the daughter of a Cretan fisherman, Moro and Morito head chef Marianna will be drawing on her own childhood, bringing the sun-drenched coasts of Crete as well as the warm, comforting spice of the Moors and the freshness of the Mediterranean to the table.
• All proceeds from ticket sales will go to support the fantastic outreach work that the Coexist Community Kitchen do with many groups in Bristol.

CHINESE DUMPLING MAKING WORKSHOP
• June 15, 6pm, The Forge, Colston Yard
• Join expert chefs from 90 Food Lab for this unique workshop where you will learn the authentic way to make delicious dumplings – the most famous festive food in China.
• Not only will you be learning how to make dumplings, but you’ll also be making colourful dumpling wrappers, learning the art of Chinese tea and discovering the secret of delicious chilli sauce.
