More volunteers for food charity needed to meet increased demand

By Lizzie Gill  Wednesday Jan 22, 2020

FareShare, which redistributes in-date surplus food around the South West to charities, schools and community groups, has recently established new routes and need more volunteers.

After receiving greater funding for the project, the charity is seeking volunteer drivers who can commit to a regular shift to help them redistribute surplus food to those in need across the region.

“The reality is that demand for our service is increasing,” says Julian Mines, FareShare South West CEO. “More people are finding themselves vulnerable to food poverty”.

“We’re not just in need of drivers, but also drivers’ mates who will assist with the delivery. Our current team are fantastic but with deliveries going out during the week and in the daytime, we need those who have the time to come forward and support us,” says Julian.
