Summer nights at St Nick’s

By Katie Pothecary  Thursday May 9, 2019

“It’s the perfect way to kick off summer in our beautiful city,” says Lorna Knapman, event director of the St Nick’s Night Market. The Bristol favourite is set to return on Friday, May 10 from 5pm to 10pm with both old favourites and new partners and producers to enjoy.

The Sansovino Hall in the Bristol Harbour Hotel is a new addition for the summer edition of the Night Market, offering a variety of local artisanal produce. There’s the chance to taste cheeses, chocolate and botanicals, as well as talk to expert craftspeople within the walls of 16th-century-inspired splendour.

Street vendors will be supplying a wide variety of food for all tastes. Vegans can anticipate the ever popular Bun Fiction’s buns and nachos, whilst Gurt Wings caters to the meat lovers out there with their locally sourced, free range buttermilk chicken. Mr Wolf’s bar will also be open for anyone needing a drink or a break away from the busy atmosphere.

Night Market sponsors Butcombe Brewery will also be supplying pub-style food with black pudding scotch eggs and mac ‘n’ cheese croquettes. Punters can wash everything down with the brewery’s limited edition pale ale or choose from a choice selection of drinks from Dick Willows Cider Farm. For those abstaining from alcohol, mocktails from Espensen Spirit will be available too.

“We are thrilled to welcome so many new producers to join our St Nicks Night Market family,” says Lorna Knapman, event director of the Night Market. “The artisan market in the gorgeous Sansovino Hall is going to be a really exciting addition to our line-up.”

There’s also a focus on sustainability this year. Bring your own drinking cup, or buy one to use at any vendor for £1. The food containers are also recyclable.

At the Glass Arcade, traders will be open late as local music legend John Stapleton  provides a soundtrack to the evening. Colston Hall will also be providing a stage to some of Bristol’s best up and coming musicians, while Valley Fest will be making an appearance with a DJ Booth and ice cream van.

With great food, music and drinks, enjoy a sustainable and tasty night at St Nick’s.
