Another Michelin star for Bristol
A small neighbourhood restaurant in the hinterland between Cotham and Kingsdown has been awarded a Michelin star.
Bulrush, which opened on Cotham Road South in 2015, was named on Monday among 21 new stars across the UK and Ireland.
Head chef and owner George Livesey gave shout-outs from the stage to his mentors in the city – fellow Michelin star holders James Wilkins of Wilks, Peter Sanchez-Iglesias of Casamia and Paco Tapas, and Josh Eggleton of the Pony & Trap – as he received his star from Gordon Ramsay.

“They’re like a little gang, which is good,” Livesey said from the stage with one of his feet in plaster following a recent fall in the restaurant.
He added: “It’s just overwhelming. It is your life. To be with all these guys, it’s unbelievable.”
The Michelin inspectors described Livesey’s style as a “classic base from his Roux background”.
They added: “His cooking is imaginative but uses well-judged flavours and combinations.”
