Asian BBQ & Hotpot restaurant opening soon in former bar

By Martin Booth  Tuesday May 16, 2023

The team behind Mugshot are opening a new Asian barbecue-inspired restaurant next to their sister bar and cafe.

Asian BBQ & Hotpot is set to open soon on St Nicholas Street, becoming neighbours to The Library which is a cafe by day and a cocktail bar by night.

As its name suggests, diners at Asian BBQ & Hotpot will be able to grill marinated meats and vegetables at their table, as well as mixing meats, seafood, vegetables and noodles in a simmering communal broth.

The new restaurant will move into the former Double Barrel bar which was previously Chomp.

Mugshot Restaurants directors Adam and Zowie Yip are also working on transforming the former High Street entrance of the Rummer into the Mary Le Port Hotel, which will contain just nine rooms.
