Award-winning barista to open new cafe and cocktail bar

By Martin Booth  Friday Mar 19, 2021

Opening this summer, Bank will have a focus on speciality coffee, seasonal cocktails and sustainable cooking.

The man behind it is Dan O’Regan, a two-time UK Barista Championship finalist and authorised Speciality Coffee Association trainer.

“Our focus is to work with incredible coffee, but also focus on amazing ingredients in every area of our business,” says Dan.

Due to open on Wells Road in Totterdown in premises most recently occupied by Banco Lounge, Dan envisages Bank to have a focus on coffee by day, and cocktails and craft beer by night.

Bank’s house espresso will be roasted by Origin, where Dan worked as London wholesale manager and training manager, before moving to work in the wholesale business development team at Colonna in Wiltshire.

“Amazing coffee is a huge part of our DNA at Bank, and we’re going to be partnering with one of our favourite roasters in the world for our house espresso,” said Dan of the link-up with Cornwall-based Origin.

Writing on Instagram, Dan said: “We’re incredibly excited to introduce you all to Bank! My name’s Dan, a food and drink lover, coffee professional, and founder of Bank.

“Our goal is to serve incredible produce throughout every facet of our menu, while keeping it approachable, familiar, and exciting.⠀

“We’re going to be opening up in Totterdown, Bristol this summer with a focus on speciality coffee, craft beer, wine, seasonal cocktails and sustainable cooking.

“Stay tuned for updates as we begin our fit out, ready to join your community just as we’re all allowed back out into the world!⠀

“Let us know what you’d like to see when we open our doors! Can’t wait to meet you all soon!”
