Award-winning fish and chip shop to open second premises

By Lowie Trevena  Wednesday Dec 16, 2020

Totterdown’s award-winning fish and chip shop will open a second south Bristol store in 2021.

Farrows currently has one store on Wells Road, but say they have “outgrown” just the one location.

Located in what is currently Fishminster on North Street, owners Chris Reed and Wasim Nakoura, known as Sam, hope to open their second store as early as February.

Farrows has won numerous awards during its 20 year history, including the Good Food Award for both 2020 and 2021. During the first lockdown the store began serving fish and chips to local streets on Fridays and Saturdays from a food van, saying: “These were really popular, and it was nice to see the strength of the local community.”

With a second branch comes more opportunity. Chris and Sam are looking at offering more vegetarian options at the North Street store, all of which will be homemade.

“It’s a step forward for us,” says Chris. “We’ve outgrown just the one shop.

“We’re moving to North Street because it’s similar to Totterdown. It’s got a real community feel and lots of good food.”

The pair hope to host a launch event on the opening night of the second branch in late February or early March.
