Big news for the smallest Oowee Diner

By Martin Booth  Monday Jul 8, 2019

Picton Street was where it all started for Oowee Diner, but their original burger emporium is no more.

After beginning their business in Montpelier next door to where they live, Oowee Diner founders Verity Foss and Charlie Watson have announced that it is now closed.

“It has been a fantastic three years and a great launchpad for our brand and we thank you all for being part of the journey with us,” the pair wrote on Facebook.

Oowee Diner will remain on North Street and Oowee Vegan on Baldwin Street – with the Picton Street unit being transformed by August into Oowee Vebab, a 100 per cent vegan kebab shop.

The original Oowee Diner on Picton Street will become Oowee Vebab

All of the sauces, pickled chillis and meats will be made in-house, and breads and salads fresh every day, with Verity and Charlie promising “the best tasting kebabs around”.

Alongside kebabs there will be a range of cheese burgers, dirty fries, chicken nuggets and sides, which will all be vegan.

Verity and Charlie added: “We have been working really hard to develop a kebab that we feel is much more tasty than the meat alternative, which will be enjoyed by everyone, not just vegans…

“It is a really exciting time for us, and with the popularity of our first Oowee Vegan on Baldwin Street with not only vegans but a lot of regular meat eaters too loving the food as much as and sometimes more than the meat alternatives, we wanted to try our hand at something new and fresh.”
