Boxhall delayed after builders go bust
Work on a food hall on Welsh Back has stopped after its contractors entered liquidation.
It means that the opening of Boxhall has been delayed and the summer opening pushed back to the autumn at the earliest.
Bristol’s Boxhall promises independent street food traders and restaurants within the O and M sheds, a 20,000 sq ft venue that was once earmarked to become a slavery museum.
is needed now More than ever
Josh Eggleton has been employed as a consultant for Boxhall to find the food operators.
But there have yet to be any announcements on any traders, with fears that the venue could also become more focused on drinking than eating.

A spokesperson for Boxhall, from the same team behind Boxpark in London, said: “We are incredibly disappointed to hear work has paused on site due to the landlord’s contractors entering liquidation.
“Over the last couple of months, we’ve been ramping up our plans, and collaborating with some of Bristol’s finest to prepare for a late summer opening.
“The site’s developers are working on sourcing alternative contractors.
“While they are currently now hoping to hand the site over to us in the autumn, until a contractor has been appointed, we won’t know the impact this will have on our opening date.
“These hurdles won’t deter us though; we remain completely committed to Bristol and can’t wait to open our first Boxhall in the city as soon as feasible.”
