The bar will boost a selection of spirits, including the super-premium Colombian rum Dictator (which is sold in Harrods for around £1,300 per bottle) and Rum Sixty-Six, a classic rum from Barbados Bajan Rum aged in ex-bourbon casks.

One of the cocktails on the menu is called There and Back Again takes its name from the lane behind the building, and is a blend of rums, with banana, coconut, lime and bitters.

The distillery will occupy the former Jamie’s Italian

“We are truly delighted to open this venue in Bristol,” said Chris Hotson, general manager at the Bristol & Bath Distillery.

“The city has a rich rum heritage and we’re really looking forward to adding to that story with a brand-new chapter, offering something we believe is different for those drinking and using our fantastic tools of the trade to make their own spiced rums.

“We can’t wait to welcome locals and visitors from across the UK who want to immerse themselves in provenance-led craft rums.”
