Bristol bar launches rainbow bubbly

By Michelle Thomas  Thursday May 4, 2017

Bored of bubbles? Ever wish your drink matched your manicure? Well, one Gloucester Road bar promises make your dreams come true with what could be the summer’s most Instagrammable cocktail.

The Rainbow Royale (£7 or £10 for two) is a glass of prosecco with a shot of flavoured liqueur, and comes in over 30 shades to match any outfit. Rob Sinclair, manager of The Urban Standard, created the concoction as part of their Spring menu.

“The first one we tried was pomegranate, which turns the prosecco dark pink. That was so popular I wondered what other flavours and colours we could use, so the Rainbow Royale was born,” he explains.

“The most popular flavours are rhubarb and liqueur de violette – it tastes like parma violet sweets!”

“I’m hoping they’ll take Instagram by storm, especially around Bristol Pride at the end of July,” Rob continues. “One customer even said that he and his boyfriend want to serve them at their wedding.”

Flavours include raspberry, mandarin, green apple and even basil – though the jury is out on whether they count as one of your five-a-day.
