Bristol brewer to help lead national beer industry
The owner and head brewer of Moor Beer has become vice chairman of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA).
Justin Hawke’s new role has been described as “a bold appointment aimed at guiding the dynamic industry into the future”.
SIBA was established in 1980 to represent the interests of the growing number of independent breweries in the UK.
is needed now More than ever
Currently representing more than 800 businesses, it is regarded as the voice of British brewing but in the past has been viewed as too conservative – something that Hawke promises to change.
“British brewing is in a fantastic position at the moment with loads of opportunities and challenges,” said Hawke, who founded Moor in Somerset in 2007 and relocated to the Dings in 2014.
“As someone who has introduced evolutionary changes such as unfined beer, can conditioning and modern hopping, I am very honoured that SIBA chose me to help navigate the industry through these fascinating times.
“My vision for the industry is very strong – one of unity, quality and aspiration.”
