Bristol Cheesemonger named best cheese shop in the UK
Rosie Morgan hasn’t been able to wipe the smile of her face since her shop The Bristol Cheesemonger was named the UK’s best speciality retailer at the Great British Cheese Awards 2017.
As she stands outside the shop at Cargo in Wapping Wharf, she is congratulated on her award by several passers-by and even by a friend driving along Museum Street who pulls up in his van.
It’s clear that Rosie has had a huge amount of support from the local Bristol community since she first started selling cheese from a trestle table in one corner of Hart’s Bakery in 2013.

That was the first step of a journey that later saw her open a pop-up shop on St Nicholas Street during Christmas 2015, followed by a permanent shop in the same location and from the beginning of this year a shop in a converted shipping container within Cargo.

“It’s wonderful,” Rosie said about her award. “In all honesty, I didn’t expect to win in the slightest. Just getting through the public voting stage to be among the finalists was amazing.”
EatDrink24/7 panelist Rosie added: “The huge amount of support I have received has made a huge impact and has been quite humbling, as well as lifting me with renewed enthusiasm.”
