Bristol entries in Good Food Guide 2015
A Bristol restaurant has made it into The Good Food Guide’s top-50 best restaurants for the first time, joined by two pubs in the publication’s inaugural list of 50 best watering holes.
Casamia in Westbury-on-Trym sits at number 38 in the best restaurants list, which is topped by L’Enclume in Cumbria, The Fat Duck in Berkshire and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London.
In a tweet, Casamia chef and co-owner Jonray Sanchez (below left, with his brother and fellow chef and co-owner Peter) said: “Fantastic platform for our young and inspiring team @Casamia_ just shows guys that we build & build upon recognition like this, very proud!”
The Pony & Trap (25th) and The Rummer (46th) are Bristol’s two representatives in the list of 50 best pubs.
is needed now More than ever
Like Casamia, the Pony & Trap near Chew Magna also has a Michelin star and offers a tasting menu alongside a traditional ploughman’s lunch. The pub is set for a major refurbishment, which will include the creation of a new orchard in its spacious garden.
The Rummer on All Saints Lane, tucked away next to St Nicks Market, is slowly making a name for itself as an eating as well as a drinking destination thanks to head chef Andrew Clatworthy, who has introduced popular evening events like last week’s steak and lobster night and now serves his food in the medieval cellar.
