Bristol Food Connections roundup
To celebrate the upcoming Bristol Food Connections, we’re giving you a round-up of interesting activities and events at the festival.
April 21-25: The Milking Parlour, Anchor Square
To kick off the festival, come see performance art piece The Milking Parlour. Nessie Reid will live with two cows for five days in a temporary milking parlour to put food – and how we get it – in the forefront of our minds.
April 28: BBC Food & Farming Awards, The Orangery
The awards return for their third year to celebrate new food initiatives, sustainable food producers and more. Judges include popular chefs Yotam Ottolenghi, Angela Hartnett and Stefan Gates.

April 29: Feeding Bristol: Practical Steps to a Local Food Future, The Orangery
This interactive panel, which features local food producers, discusses how Bristol can push healthy, sustainable and local food. The panel will be put on by Bristol Food Producers.
April 30: Wai Yee Hong Dumpling Workshop, Bishopston Supper Club
Learn how to make delicious dumplings in this relaxed workshop led by Jo from Wai Yee Hong supermarket in Bristol. Participants will walk away with a goodie bag of dips and chopsticks.
May 1: Blaise Estate Foraging Walk, The Dingle
Discover local wild-growing edible plants on this walk, where participants will learn what to eat – and what to avoid. Guests will also get the chance to try drinks made from foraged foods. This event is part of Bristol Walkfest.
May 2: Dragonbird Theatre Kids Workshop, The Orangery
The children’s theatre company will perform The Elephant’s Child and set off in a hot air balloon to Africa. Kids should bring a picnic and come learn what different animals like for breakfast.
May 3: Extract Cinema Club: Pulp Fiction, Extract Coffee Roasters
For the cocktails and cult movie club’s third outing, visitors can come watch the popular Tarantino flick while munching popcorn and sipping drinks.
May 4: Real economy cooking workshop: sweet snacks without sugar, Avonmouth Community Centre
Stuck on how to whip up a healthy snack? The Avonmouthful Real Food Club and Cook Eat and Travel are here to help.
May 5: Radio Americana, Plead the 5th
A three-course dinner of classic American cuisine paired with some of the best storytelling in Bristol courtesy of The Dark Radio.
May 6: Great Brandon Bake Off, St Stephen’s Church
Brandon Trust catering trainees test their baking skills. The winners’ cakes will be available for the public to purchase.
May 7: Hindu Temple, 163A Church Road
The Hindu Temple invites people to come in and learn more about Hinduism and enjoy some delicious vegetarian food.
